History

Our 140-year-old history forms the foundation of our present success. What is today B&S was once three individual organisations operating in several niche markets. The result of their merger in 2000 was an impressive scale advantage and the birth of a one-source supply concept. Each company contributed knowledge and networks from their own different backgrounds, fortifying the business pillars of B&S.

Köpcke, 1872:

Former ship’s captain August Köpcke starts delivering products as a ship chandler.

Bosman, 1912:

Already supplying dairy products to retailers, Mr. Bosman begins expanding his business by provisioning food products to European ship chandlers.

Paul, 1948:

Mr. Paul opens a duty-free business at the port of Rotterdam – allowing ship crews to purchase spirits and cigarettes tax-free.

B&S, 2001:

With triple the network, facilities and in-house expertise, a new and much stronger entity is created; B&S.
