AZ Duty Free Shops, customer of B&S Paul Global and operator of the Astara Duty Free border store, opened a new diplomatic store in the spring of 2011.
The store can be found in the centre of Baku’s (Azerbaijan) business district and consists of 400sq of luxury retail space. Many embassies and consulates are located in this district. The target audience: around 10.000 diplomats and their families,
“When approximately one year ago we heard about this project”, - says Cees Visser, Business Unit Director of B&S Paul Global, - “I knew we could be of added value to the client. We proactively approach the client suggesting not only to be their supplier but to be involved in the complete management of the project. We have been the connection between the client and the industry, bringing added value to all parties in the chain. One of our main actions has been the arrangement of light boxes”.
What make this store really special are the assortment and the shopping concept. The customer can find premium goods in all categories. There are special whiskeys and top quality cognacs, as well as different specialties that are not easy to find. The shop has 2 floors; on the second floor there is a luxurious lounge bar. Here clients can sit and have a nice drink while their family is shopping.

AZ Duty Free was founded in 2007 and its first outlet, the Astara border store, opened in mid-2008.
